‘Follow Me’ in Australia

April 1 @ 8:00 am - December 31 @ 5:00 pm UTC+10

Friends,

We desire to see a generation of young Catholics saying YES as disciples of Jesus to follow God’s plans and transform the Church and Society. And we believe it’s important to collaborate as groups (dioceses, parishes, communities, associations, movements etc.) to strengthen each other with our unique gifts and contributions, so that we can move forward together in this work of forming young disciples and empowering them to be disciple-makers.

‘Follow Me’ has been a great model of doing precisely this in various countries in Europe over the last 12 years, where 800 Catholic young adults have experienced  being accompanied in a journey of discipleship and their lives being transformed as a result. Quite a few have now taken up leadership roles in their parishes, dioceses, communities and movements as disciple-makers.

So we would love to be part of initiating ‘Follow Me’ in Australia (starting in Canberra) and  partner with Catholic groups who are keen on forming young adults as ‘missionary disciples’. Pope Francis first used the term “missionary disciples ” in his apostolic exhortation, ‘Evangelii Gaudium’. He continues to voice his desire for the laity to become missionary disciples throughout his papacy.

‘Follow Me’ consists of 8 weekend experiences which are held every 6-12 weeks (over a period of a year) and designed for Catholic young adults who are in college or university. You can find out more about ‘Follow Me’ at this website for it in the U.K., where it is currently being initiated for the first time in English: https://www.followme.uk.net

You will find endorsements for ‘Follow Me’ by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna, Austria where it first started. As well as several bishops who have experienced it being run for Catholic young adults in their locations. So far it has been run in several locations in Austria, Germany, Italy and Holland.
You can also hear testimonies from Follow Me participants here.

Christian Nobleza, who works with the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn is part of the team initiating ‘Follow Me’ in Canberra. If you are interested in hearing more, and to explore partnering together in this work of forming missionary disciples, would you please contact Christian?
You can also contact Cassius Soares from Kerygma Australia at: contact@kerygma.org.au
We are happy to offer your young adults ‘tasters’ of the discipleship experience on ‘Follow Me’, so you can be confident that it will fit in well with your vision and will be beneficial for your group.
